What we do and don't do
York Deck Builders is a referral service. We don't employ builders, schedule crews or set prices, and homeowners pay nothing to use it.
Checking a contractor in Pennsylvania
Under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act, contractors doing $5,000 or more of home improvement work a year must register with the Attorney General and show the number on contracts and ads. Ask for that number, proof of liability and workers' compensation insurance, which municipality will issue the permit, and a written contract that lists footings, materials and warranty. You have three business days to cancel after signing.
